The seat of the kneeling chair is tilted at a 120° angle instead of the usual flat 90° you’re used to. This open angle pushes your hips forward and places you in an upright seated posture. Your core will engage and most of the pressure will be taken off your lower back.
The separate knee cushions give you the freedom to switch up your leg positions. The ability to rock keeps your core continually engaged and keeps your wiggles away.
It's important to note that usually takes about 2 weeks for your body to fully adapt to this style of sitting. We do recommend keeping your old chair nearby at first and using the kneeling chair in short increments, but after that, you’re good to go! Use it all day, every day, forever.
Try risk free for 90-days. Money-back guarantee if you don't like the product, and all of our chairs are covered by a 1-year manufacturer warranty in case anything goes wrong with the product.
The rocking motion helps keep you focused and energized as the tilted angle of the seat opens your hip flexors and takes pressure of your lower back.

I had surgery on my lower back and this chair really helps take the pressure off my low back. I can feel the difference immediately! My only issue is that the space to fit your leg between the seat cushion and leg cushion is quite small and I have to physically wedge my leg into the space. Kind of challenging since I'm still recovering from surgery.
Love the kneeling chair. I thought it would be very uncomfortable on my knees, but I've not had an issue. I use it 100% of my work day when I thought it'd be less than half the work day. I just love it. It feels great to rock and it's comfortable on my back. I take some extra care to stretch my hamstrings each day but it's no different than sitting in an regular seated chair! I love it (so do my kids) and would highly recommend. It's also aesthetically pleasing.
After landing a remote job earlier this year, I went all in and purchased the Portland, Saint John, and Austin (see my other reviews on those product pages).
I had never used a kneeling chair before but was very curious and wanted to find a solution to the pain caused by poor sitting posture. After using the Austin chair pretty much every day over the last two months, I'm quite satisfied.
Of course, I love the rocking motion that the chair provides. I always say, it's like a full body fidget spinner! Very soothing for people with ADHD. I also love having separate knee rests. This offers the most versatility in sitting positions.
My only complaints are less about the chair itself (it's about as well designed as it could be), and more just about the inherent limitations of a chair like this. If you sit in the chair all day every day, you will likely have some slight discomfort at the contact points. The padding is very firm (compared to typical desk chairs) so sitting in this chair for eight hours straight isn't recommended.
But then again, even Sleekform will remind you that sitting in *any* chair for that long isn't a good idea. Which is why I love having the Saint John standing desk, to switch between sitting and standing throughout the day. This approach has worked well so far.
I do still experience some slight discomfort in my seat and shins sometimes, even after the adjustment period. I think this could be mitigated by adding additional or a different kind of padding, especially to the lower end of the knee rests. The internal support there has a bit of an edge beneath the fabric, and after resting on this a while, the shins still get a little sore.
Also, after daily use for about two months, the fabric has started to show some wear (pilling, etc) and the padding (especially in the knee rests) has started to get compressed.
I can imagine that after a year, the wear and tear will be even more pronounced. I suppose this is unavoidable, although Sleekform might want to explore using more durable fabric and support materials in future iterations.
I do appreciate that you can purchase replacement seat and knee rest pads for when that time comes and the chair is in need of a facelift. In the meantime, I've taken a high quality fabric shaver to the pilling and that has worked well and refreshed the appearance of the fabric.
Another slight concern is that in tightening the bolts with the Allen wrench, the metal has started to become stripped. I'm concerned about when the time comes to replace the seat and knee pads, that I won't be able to remove the bolts. Perhaps consider including bolts made of harder metal (if possible).
Otherwise, the wood frame seems sturdy. It took me a few weeks to "trust" the chair (given how slight the frame is) and get used to the side-to-side "wobble" or "give" that the seat and knee rests have if you shift your weight in that direction.
I made sure to tighten all the bolts again after a couple weeks had passed, just to be sure that wasn't the cause. Now I don't even think about it, but do know that there will be some give and movement, especially in the knee rests.
Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase. Although we should all endeavor to sit less, if you do have to sit, this is probably the best way to go about it. The Austin keeps me in the best possible position for sitting and has helped alleviate the aches and pains that came from previous poor sitting posture.
Plus, it's beautiful, compact, and fun to rock in! When not in use, I store it sideways under the Portland table for zero footprint. Definitely recommend!
Love this design! It is an absolute game changer, I feel my posture has improved and it helps open up my hips and engage my core. I would highly recommend this chair to everyone one I know. Especially if you work long hours sitting in a chair.
I've wanted a kneeling chair for as long as I can remember. So happy I selected the Sleekform. I've been dealing with neck and back pain and this chair has helped tremendously. The rocking and side-to-side motion are a great addition to the traditional, more structured, kneeling chair design. 100% recommend!
I love this chair! My back feels way better after using it for a couple weeks. It does take some getting used to, especially with the slight pressure on shins... but really big difference in my energy levels and back health. I'm pleasantly surprised that it fits under the smallest desk that Ikea makes. Also, I saw some previous reviews warning of tricky assembly - but I had no issues. If you know what the chair looks like its pretty self-explanatory. The cherry on top is that it looks great!
This chair is really great! Just using the kneeling chair for the last week has been really helpful in alleviating back pain. Also, the folx at Sleekform were so helpful in getting the chair to me! This is the best purchase I've made in a long time.
Thank you!!!
LOVE IT!! After a few months of contemplating I finally went for it. Im obsessed with the cream/beige color of the fabric. It looks so sleek! The kneeling style allows your whole body to engage to support focus. I don’t find myself drifting off during meetings as I would in my normal 90 degree chair. What I love most is the multiple positions you can sit! 10/10 would recommend.
this has been wonderful. I tend to slouch in my chair, so the kneeling chair improves my posture which means less back and shoulder pain! I'm more productive and much happier. thanks for the great product!
I love this chair, it's beautiful and comfortable and adaptable and I am recommending it to anyone who wants the option of a kneeling chair for the desk. The packaging was really cute, and thoughtful. This small business is awesome!
I have been using this for four months - I’ve had chronic back pain from car accidents and having children. Sometimes I will be at my desk 8+ hours at a time. This is a LIFE SAVER!
I love it so far. I suffer from sciatica and can barely sit in a chair for 15 minutes at a time. As a podcaster and designer I need to be able to sit for longer periods of time. This has helped tremendously. Thanks so much!
Takes some getting used to, and you have to be sure to find something to elevate your table if you're working from home. Have not noticed a difference in lower back pain but hip pain is improved.
The chair is just okay. Even after assembling and retightening the screws with a drill, the chair still feels wobbly (side to side) when sitting on it. Also - as mentioned in other reviews, the cushions are much more brown than in the photos.
It’s very comfortable and very sleek! I am so excited when I get to use it and noticed immediately it helps my posture and the rocking motion helps me keep focus.
Wow. I am so happy that I bought this chair. I sit for long hours a day in front of the computer for my job, so have developed sciatica over the last couple of years. I am noticing a shift in my sciatica symptoms after just two days of using this chair in combination with the standing desk. I am looking forward to seeing how things progress the longer I use it. I find the forward sitting much more comfortable for my back than a standard chair angle (though awkward at first). I like the look of the chair, its design is simple and attractive. I thought initially that it was a little unsteady and was worried that this was due to lack of integrity or strength of the build, but found on the "pro tips" that this flexibility in side to side motion is built into the design, so there is a lot of movement that is possible while sitting, which really helps! Love it! Thank you!
I am really enjoying using this chair in place of my old office chair. It did take a little getting used to, but I followed the advice and switched between standing, my old chair, and this new kneeling chair until I got used to kneeling. Now I really love it and I've noticed less hip and back pain!
I like this chair a lot! It takes some getting used to but it keeps me much more upright and makes me adjust and fidget throughout the day so I don't get as stiff. It does still make me sore, but I have only been using it about 2 weeks so I am hoping that I will adjust.
So far I really enjoy it. I love the linen color. I wanted a fabric I wouldn't stick to while wearing shorts. I am finding myself rocking and getting a baby ab workout in. It is a nice fidget spinner. I am still figuring out other ways to try to sit in the chair. I am worried about running over my officemate's tail. But, that is user error.
I am still in the adjustment phase but what a difference this is already making on my hip joint issues. Being able to take the pressure off the glutes is amazing! Wish I had purchased sooner - love my PT for recommending ;)
I have only been sitting in the chair for two days, but love it so far. I get really antsy when sitting at my desk for long periods, and this chair allows me to put my feet up, or move around any way I want, really. I was concerned it wouldn't be tall enough for my at home psuedo-desk, but at 22" it's absolutely perfect, and very comfortable. Love that it rocks gently, but still feels super stable.
Have sent a contact form now twice stating that the wooden slat with the sleekform logo has some staining on it and would like a replacement…haven’t hear back yet.

Hey Marc! Sorry, you didn't see my first reply on June 30th. I just sent you a second reply now. If you don't see it right away, check your junk mail!
After years of sitting in a regular office chair (and a lot of back pain later) I decided to invest in a kneeling chair since I’ve heard that they’re great for posture and back issues. Since using this chair, I feel like I can’t go back to normal chairs! I love the comfortability & the freedom to sit a few different ways on it. The assembly was easy, and the chair is so compact & space efficient— I really appreciate the fact that it can slide completely under my desk!
